Sick Policy: in order to keep our staff and children healthy, and to prevent school closures, we ask that parents use the following guidelines to determine when children should be kept home.
Temperature threshold: Any fever at 100 degrees or higher will result in the child being sent home. Parents have one hour to pick up their child.
Exclusion period: The child must remain fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
Recurrence policy: Should your child have a fever more than once in a week span, the child may be excluded for a longer time and a doctor’s note will be required.
Vomit: Vomit indicates more serious illness such as the stomach flu, food poisoning, or norovirus. Children will be sent home should they vomit. Parents have one hour to pick up their child. The child must be kept home and vomit free for 48 hours before returning to school.
Diarrhea: Children with more than three loose stools or watery bowel movements will be sent home. Children will be required to stay home until diarrhea symptoms have been cleared for 24 hours.
Open wounds: Children with open wounds or blood puts other children in serious risk of disease. Children with open wounds or blood will be sent home. Parents have one hour to pick up their child.
Common cold and flu: Some illnesses do not always result in fever. Children with a blend of the following symptoms will be sent home: green mucus, cough, lethargy, inability to participate in scheduled activities. Parents have one hour to pick up their child. Children may return to school when the bulk of their symptoms are no longer present, typically after 24 hours. Children with lingering cough or clear runny noses will be allowed to return.
Covid: Any covid exposures within the daycare will require children test and receive a negative test result before coming to school. Any covid outbreaks are subject to the guidance of licensing and the Department of Health.
Outbreaks: As a licensed facility, we must abide by our governing agencies such as state licensing and the Department of Public Health. The guidelines to various outbreaks change often for childcare facilities. Should we have an outbreak such as Hand, Foot, Mouth; Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV); Coronavirus; Norovirus; lice; etc.; we will follow the current guidelines provided to us by the Department of Public Health and Licensing. Some guidelines result in a longer exclusion period, or a school wide closure.
General rule of thumb: If your child does not have the energy to participate in our regular scheduled activities, they should stay home.
Behavioral Policy: in order to keep our staff and children safe, these are our behavioral protocols.
Behavioral changes and Intervention Plan: Children typically go through major behavioral changes from 18 months - 5 years of age. Some behavioral changes result in physical aggression. For the first physical incident, we require a phone call with parents to go over the incident, identify underlying factors, and form an intervention plan. This call helps staff and parents align in how we will all address the behavior. We will follow up with more scheduled phone calls should another physical incident occur.
Sending a child home: Children with three acts of physical aggression in one day will immediately get sent home to prevent themselves or others from getting harmed. A call will be made with the Director and the Parents to go over each incident, and come up with a joint plan to limit any future incidents.
Behavior Therapy and School Removal: For children with persistent behavioral issues, the Director will refer parents to a behavioral therapist. With each staff ratio being 3:1, working one-on-one with each child is beyond the scope of our capabilities. We will require families to seek a trained professional to offer individualized and formal Intervention Plans. If the behavior does not change and the child continues to jeopardize the safety of the children at school, the Director will require School Removal. Parents will be given a 2 week notice of School Removal, and their school contract will be voided.
Late Pick-Up Policy:
Late pick up will incur an additional $35 for the first ten minutes, and $1 per additional minute thereafter. Three unexcused late pick ups within a three month period will result in suspension the school day following the third late pick up
Babysitting Policy:
Using Tilly’s Tots staff for babysitting purposes is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate school removal. A recruitment fee will be assessed as detailed in the school contract.
Marketing Policy:
Tilly’s Tots may use photos, videos, or stories of students for marketing purposes. Such material will be used on the preschool’s website. Parents can withdraw consent at any time by providing written notice to the Director.
